Virtual Strength and Balance class with Shannon Tauscher

About the Class
Join us for Virtual Strength and Balance, a beginning to intermediate-level fitness course oriented around improving strength and balance, particularly as they relate to bone health. In this virtual class, we will focus on five key movements that form the foundation of our previous Better Bones and Balance course, as well as upper body strength and overall coordination.
Class Format
Classes will begin with a warm up, continue through a series of balance and strength exercises, and finish with stretching/flexibility work. Each respective week will repeat a similar group of exercises, in order to develop muscle memory and adequate volume of exercise for building strength and coordination. Foundational movements include squats, lunge variations, and stepping sequences.

- A wall surface for wall sits and other wall-based moves.
- A chair or counter, as needed for balance or support.
- Optional: resistance bands and/or hand weights (full water bottles, canned vegetables, etc.)

Join STOTT-Pilates trained instructor Shannon Tauscher for Virtual Mat Pilates, Appropriate for all levels, this course will focus on core strengthening, body connection, balance and coordination, and will include a combination of standing movements as well as ground/mat movements,
Class Format
If you are new to mat Pilates, the first 2-3 classes will include a detailed introduction to the approach, as well as addressing fundamentals such as safely supporting necks and correctly engaging core. That introduction will provide the foundation for the class moving forward, and makes it appropriate for beginners, as well as those more experienced with Pilates.
